It's essentially the Adobe Photoshop of the writing tools, with tons of a features and a steep learning curve, but for authors who can master that learning curve, you have a lot of potential. However, I now recommend Atticus instead, with Scrivener as my #2 on my list of best writing tools, since Atticus has better formatting capability and several other features that Scrivener lacks. Windows version is objectively inferior to Mac versionīottom Line: For a long time, Scrivener was my go-to writing software, and it is still a good option for most writers.Formatting tools are far too complicated.No real-time collaboration or co-author functionality.
